Powered by the interchangeable AS 2 lithium-ion battery, the HLA40 shares compatibility with other STIHL AS System tools including cordless pruners, leaf blowers, grass trimmers and powered secateurs — giving you flexibility across your garden equipment. Featuring a telescopic shaft and adjustable cutter bar, the HLA 40 adapts easily to a wide range of trimming tasks. With a maximum length of 2.6 metres, it allows you to cut tall hedges safely from ground level. Weighing just 3.7 kg, it’s comfortable to handle, while the soft-grip handle and included shoulder strap help reduce fatigue during longer jobs. The tool-free telescopic adjustment lets you quickly set the shaft to your preferred working height. The 45 cm / 18″ cutter bar is fitted with laser-cut, diamond-ground and hardened double-sided blades for clean, precise cuts and low vibration. The cutter head adjusts tool-free between -45° and 70°, making it easy to trim hedge tops and sides at different angles. A built-in tip protector helps prevent blade damage when working close to walls or the ground. For easy transport and compact storage, the detachable shaft reduces the overall length from 260 cm to just 115 cm, allowing the trimmer to fit neatly into a shed or garage. With up to 40 minutes of runtime on a single AS 2 battery charge, the HLA 40 provides plenty of power for typical garden maintenance. Additional features include a loop handle for excellent manoeuvrability in tight spaces, an LED battery charge indicator for easy planning, and low-vibration operation for smoother, more accurate cutting. Please note: this model is not compatible with Kombi attachments, HTA 30 pruner head, RTS harness or shaft extensions.
